How Flashcards Work
HSKpass uses the SM-2 spaced-repetition algorithm — the same system behind Anki. Cards you find difficult appear more often; cards you know well appear less frequently.
Spaced repetition works because memory strength decays predictably over time (the "forgetting curve"). Instead of reviewing every card daily, SM-2 pushes each card's next review to just before you're likely to forget it — so you spend review time on words that actually need it, not ones you've already locked in.
Rating scale
1 — Again — Total blank. Card resets to interval of 1 day.
2 — Hard — Struggled but recalled. Interval stays the same.
3 — Good — Recalled with some effort. Interval increases normally.
4 — Easy — Recalled instantly. Interval increases faster.
